PM Modi says India's Gen Z Trusts BJP After Mumbai Victory

PM Modi claims Gen Z supports BJP, cites Mumbai BMC win at Bengal rally.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted that India’s Gen Z believes in the BJP’s development model, citing the party’s emphatic victory in recent municipal elections, including its landmark performance in Mumbai’s civic polls. Addressing a public rally in Malda, West Bengal, he expressed confidence that the same momentum would carry the BJP to power in the state, where Assembly elections are due in the coming months.

Highlighting what he described as growing youth support, the Prime Minister said the BJP’s success in major urban centres reflects a generational shift toward development-focused politics. He claimed that young voters are increasingly aligning with the BJP’s vision of infrastructure growth, governance reforms, and economic opportunity.

Launching a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress government, Modi said in Bengali that the current administration “needs to be changed.” He accused the ruling party of corruption, alleging that public money is being looted and that central government assistance is being deliberately blocked from reaching the people of West Bengal.

The Prime Minister further accused the Trinamool Congress of shielding illegal infiltrators, asserting that strong action would be taken once the BJP comes to power in the state. He said the issue of infiltration has serious implications for national security and local livelihoods, and pledged a firm response under a BJP-led government.

Seeking to reassure refugee communities, Modi said the Matuas and other persecuted minorities from neighbouring countries have nothing to fear. He pointed out that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) provides legal protection and a path to citizenship for those who have faced religious persecution.

With elections approaching, the Prime Minister framed the contest as a choice between what he described as misgovernance and corruption on one side, and development and accountability on the other. He reiterated that Bengal’s progress, in his view, hinges on a change in leadership and the adoption of the BJP’s development agenda.
