NRI Dismisses CM's Fake Video Accusations as "Completely False" Political Conspiracy

A political controversy in Punjab has intensified after Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann alleged that a viral "objectionable" video was fabricated using a mask as part of a conspiracy to malign him and hurt Sikh sentiments. The allegations have been strongly disputed by Jagman Samra, a Canada-based Punjabi non-resident Indian (NRI), whom the Chief Minister accused of being behind the circulation of the video. Samra has denied any involvement and challenged the Punjab government to substantiate its claims with evidence.

Speaking at a press conference, Bhagwant Mann alleged that the controversial video was created using a mask to impersonate him. He claimed that a close examination of the footage showed that the individual featured in the video did not have a scar on the neck that he has carried since undergoing surgery during childhood. The Chief Minister maintained that the video was fabricated as part of a political conspiracy aimed at damaging his image.

Mann further alleged that Jagman Samra was behind the viral video and stated that the Punjab Police would bring him back to India as part of the investigation. The Chief Minister said authorities would pursue legal action against those responsible for creating and circulating the video, asserting that attempts were being made to mislead the public and provoke religious sentiments through manipulated content.

Responding shortly after Mann's remarks, Samra released a video statement rejecting all allegations against him. He described the Chief Minister's accusations as "completely false" and challenged the Punjab government to present credible evidence linking him to the video. Samra also accused the state government of misleading the public and maintained that he had no role in the creation or dissemination of the controversial footage.

The video controversy has sparked political debate in Punjab, with opposition leaders and various political parties demanding clarity on the allegations and the investigation. The matter has also drawn attention because the video is alleged to have hurt Sikh religious sentiments, making the issue particularly sensitive. Investigating agencies are expected to examine digital evidence and other material to determine the authenticity of the claims made by both sides.
