Mohan Yadav urges Rahul Gandhi to uphold LoP dignity.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, arguing that the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition should maintain the dignity and decorum associated with the constitutional position. Yadav accused Gandhi of attempting to build a political narrative through what he described as false claims and said such conduct undermined the stature of the office.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Governor Mangubhai Patel at Lok Bhavan in Bhopal, Yadav said the Leader of Opposition occupies an important position in India's parliamentary system. He argued that the person holding the office should uphold its dignity and avoid actions that could disrupt the functioning of the House.
The remarks came amid a continuing political confrontation between the BJP and Congress over student-related issues. Opposition leaders have raised concerns over the handling of student grievances, including matters linked to examinations and recruitment, while the BJP has accused Congress leaders of politicising the protests and related issues.

Yadav urged the Congress to reflect on the constitutional position held by Gandhi and ensure that its dignity is maintained. He also criticised what he described as attempts to create political narratives around student concerns, saying such conduct could affect the functioning and decorum of parliamentary proceedings.
Earlier in the day, Yadav met Governor Mangubhai Patel at Lok Bhavan in Bhopal. According to the Chief Minister, their discussions covered the Uniform Civil Code Bill recently passed by the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, development initiatives, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and preparations for Independence Day programmes.
The Chief Minister also discussed the state's rainfall situation and ongoing government programmes with the Governor. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh had received around 15 per cent less rainfall than normal, which he attributed to the impact of El Niño. The meeting also covered various developmental initiatives and preparations for upcoming state programmes.
