MK Stalin, addresses the Assembly's final session with strong belief in DMK's return to power post-elections.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin on February 20, 2026, expressed strong confidence in his party's return to power, stating during the final sitting of the 16th Legislative Assembly that the DMK would form the government again within the next two months.

Addressing the House amid the ongoing session and ahead of the impending Assembly elections, Stalin declared, "Like the people of Tamil Nadu, I am also confident that the DMK government will be formed again in the next 2 months." He emphasized that the upcoming term, which he described as "Dravidian Model 2.0," would surpass the achievements of the current government through greater speed, commitment, and vigor in launching development initiatives.

The remarks came during discussions related to the Interim Budget and reflections on the five-year tenure of the DMK-led administration. Tamil Nadu's political landscape has seen the DMK in power since 2021, following a decisive victory over the AIADMK-led alliance. The upcoming polls represent a key test for the ruling party, which has focused on welfare schemes, infrastructure, and the "Dravidian Model" of governance emphasizing social justice and development. Stalin's confident prediction aligns with earlier statements positioning the DMK to secure a second consecutive term, potentially on its own strength while maintaining alliances.

The Assembly address marks a significant moment as the current term concludes, with Stalin using the platform to rally support and outline ambitions for the future. Opposition parties have yet to respond formally to the chief minister's assertions, though the election season is expected to intensify debates over governance records and promises. No immediate counter from rival factions was reported following the speech.
