Minister Defends TVK Chief, Says Vijay Will Be Permanent Chief Minister Of Tamil Nadu
Minister claims Vijay will be permanent Tamil Nadu Chief Minister while defending TVK chief.
Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister KA Sengottaiyan has made a strong political assertion defending Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, stating that the government under his leadership is not intended to function as a limited-term administration and suggesting that Vijay will remain the “permanent Chief Minister” of Tamil Nadu. The remarks were made while the minister was speaking to reporters at Chennai Airport on Monday. Sengottaiyan responded to questions regarding criticism of the Chief Minister’s communication style and public engagement.
He said Vijay does not follow conventional political practices such as frequent press conferences or regular public statements, but instead focuses on announcing welfare schemes and policy decisions at appropriate intervals. According to him, the administration prioritises governance outcomes over routine media interaction. In a politically significant statement that has drawn attention, the minister asserted that the current government is not meant to last only for a standard five-year term. He went on to say that Vijay would continue as the “permanent Chief Minister” of the state, framing the leadership as long-term in nature.
The comment has added to ongoing discussions in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape about the future structure and durability of the current administration. Sengottaiyan further defended the Chief Minister’s approach to governance, stating that public engagement and media interaction would take place whenever necessary rather than on a fixed or daily schedule. He emphasised that the government’s focus remains on implementing development schemes and administrative measures rather than engaging in constant political debate or media visibility.

The remarks come amid a broader political discourse surrounding the leadership style of the current Tamil Nadu government, with supporters highlighting its policy-driven approach while critics question its limited public communication. The minister’s statement is likely to intensify debate over governance style, political messaging, and leadership continuity in the state. In a separate part of his briefing, Sengottaiyan also addressed questions related to a recent criminal incident in Coimbatore involving the sexual assault and murder of a 10-year-old girl.
The case, which occurred on May 21, had sparked widespread public outrage across the district and raised concerns about child safety and law enforcement response. The minister stated that the state government has taken swift action in the case under the direction of the Chief Minister. He confirmed that the accused individuals have already been arrested following an intensive investigation conducted by the police within 24 hours of the incident being reported. He added that the Director General of Police has been instructed to personally supervise the investigation to ensure transparency and accountability in the case.
Authorities have assured that strict legal proceedings will follow and that justice will be pursued rigorously for the victim and her family. The Coimbatore incident continues to draw public attention, with discussions focusing on law enforcement efficiency and preventive measures to avoid similar crimes in the future. Meanwhile, Sengottaiyan’s political remarks have added another layer of debate to the state’s evolving political narrative, particularly regarding the role and longevity of the current leadership.
