Kerala Close Fight: UDF Edges LDF With 69 Seats, But Victory Margin Razor-Thin

Today's Chanakya exit poll predicts a UDF marginal victory in Kerala with 69 seats.

The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) is projected to emerge as the single largest alliance in Kerala, but with a narrow margin, according to the Today’s Chanakya exit poll released after the state assembly election. The survey indicates a closely contested political battle in the 140-member Kerala Legislative Assembly, where the majority mark stands at 71 seats.

As per the projection, the UDF is expected to win around 69 seats, with a margin of error of nine seats, placing its possible range between 60 and 78 seats. This suggests that while the alliance may fall just short of a clear majority on paper, it remains in a strong position to potentially form the government depending on final results and post-poll developments.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF), which currently holds power in the state, is also expected to deliver a strong performance, with the exit poll forecasting 64 seats for the alliance, again with a nine-seat margin of error. This places the LDF in the 55 to 73 seat range, indicating a tightly fought contest where small vote shifts could significantly alter the outcome.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), meanwhile, is projected to make modest gains in the state, with Today’s Chanakya estimating 7 seats, with a range between 3 and 11 seats. While still a minor player in Kerala’s assembly politics, the projection suggests a gradual expansion of the party’s influence in the southern state’s electoral landscape.
