JD(U) Worker Plants Nishant Kumar CM Posters as Bihar Succession Battle Heats Up Fast
Posters projecting Nitish Kumar's son Nishant as Bihar CM appeared near JD(U) headquarters.
Posters projecting Nishant Kumar as the next Chief Minister of Bihar surfaced outside the office of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) in Patna on Saturday, sparking fresh political discussion in the state. The posters prominently featured current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar alongside his son, portraying Nishant as the “future CM of Bihar".
The development comes at a time when speculation is already rife over potential leadership choices in the state, with several leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also being discussed as possible contenders. The emergence of these posters has added a new dimension to the ongoing political discourse, particularly within the ruling alliance.
The posters also outlined a broader vision, highlighting a “Developed Bihar-2040” agenda and linking Nishant Kumar to his father’s governance legacy. Slogans accompanying the visuals included "Why a new face should be considered when Nishant is ready to fulfil the pledge of ‘Climate Leader’ (Nitish Kumar)” and “Nitish Sevak Maange Nishant", indicating support from sections of party workers for his potential elevation.

According to reports, the posters were put up by Krishna Patel, the state vice president of the party’s student wing. While there has been no official statement from JD(U) leadership regarding the move, the development underscores internal enthusiasm among some party members and is likely to fuel further debate over succession and leadership planning in Bihar politics.
