Jan Suraaj Announces Second Candidate List of 65 for Upcoming Bihar Elections
Jan Suraaj releases 65 more Bihar candidates, stressing clean image, diversity, and inclusiveness.
Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party on Monday released its second list of 65 candidates for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, reaffirming its commitment to inclusiveness and representation across communities. With this announcement, the party has now declared candidates for 116 of the 243 assembly seats, maintaining its pledge to contest all seats in the state. The question of whether Kishor himself will contest remains unresolved.
Speaking at the announcement in Patna, party national president Uday Singh said the list reflects the party’s promise to ensure broad community representation. Candidates from the Extremely Backward Class (EBC), including 10 Hindus and 4 Muslims, have been named for 14 seats, while 10 candidates belong to the Other Backward Class (OBC) category, and 14 represent minority communities. Singh emphasised that community representation remains a central principle in the party’s candidate selection.
The first list, released earlier, had 51 candidates, nearly all first-time contestants, including doctors, lawyers, former bureaucrats, and police officers. The selection criteria prioritised candidates with a clean public image, in line with the party’s objective of tackling corruption and promoting transparent governance in Bihar.
