DK Shivakumar Dismisses ‘November Revolution’, Says Congress Will Rise Again in 2028

DK Shivakumar shuts down November CM change rumours: “Only revolution in 2028 when Congress returns”.

Amid rising political chatter over a possible “November revolution” in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar firmly dismissed all speculation about leadership change in the state. Shivakumar, who also heads the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, told reporters in New Delhi that there would be no upheaval in the ruling Congress government, reiterating his and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s loyalty to the party’s directives.

“There will be no revolution in November or December or January. The only revolution will be in 2028 when the Congress comes back to power,” Shivakumar asserted, responding to reports hinting at a mid-term reshuffle. He described himself as a disciplined soldier of the Congress and emphasized that he would never go against the party line. The Deputy Chief Minister also dismissed media reports suggesting internal rifts or talks of a leadership transition.

Currently in the national capital to consult legal experts on the ongoing inter-state water dispute, Shivakumar clarified that he had no meetings scheduled with the party high command regarding cabinet changes or leadership discussions. “It is the prerogative of the Chief Minister to make changes. I have no programme to meet any central leaders. Our focus remains on party organization and the ‘Vote Chori’ campaign,” he said. His comments come amid speculation that Congress could consider a transition in power once the government crosses its halfway mark this month.

Shivakumar rejected the idea of a planned reshuffle or power-sharing deal, insisting that both he and Siddaramaiah were committed to serving under the directions of the Congress leadership. “If the party says the Chief Minister will serve for five years, he will serve for five. If ten years, then ten years. We are here to fulfill the responsibility given to us,” he remarked. He further dismissed conjecture surrounding potential ministerial appointments, saying that such decisions would be taken solely by the high command in due course.

The phrase “November revolution” has gained traction in political circles, alluding to speculation about a change in Karnataka’s leadership as the Congress completes half its term. However, Shivakumar’s categorical denial seems aimed at quelling rumors and reinforcing the perception of unity within the state Congress leadership. For now, he maintains that any significant shake-up—politically or administratively—will be reserved for 2028, when he believes the Congress will script its next big victory.
