Delhi Records Light Rain, More Showers Forecast Today
Delhi receives light rain, more showers expected later today.
Delhi experienced light rain on March 24, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and private weather services reporting generally cloudy skies and a few spells of very light to light rain or drizzle, especially during the forenoon and early afternoon. The city woke up to mild showers and a slight dip in temperature, breaking the otherwise dry, warming‑into‑summer trend that has prevailed across much of northern India this month.
The minimum temperature in the national capital on March 24 hovered around the mid‑ to high‑teens, while the maximum is expected to stay in the low‑30s, making the day comfortably warm but not extremely hot. Humidity levels have risen slightly due to the cloud cover and rain, giving a more muggy feel despite the moderate heat, and winds are blowing at relatively low speeds from the north‑west sector.
Weather forecasts for the day indicate that isolated pockets of Delhi may see more spells of light rain or drizzle, particularly in the afternoon, as cloud bands remain active over the region. The IMD had already flagged a likelihood of very light rain or drizzle during the afternoon of March 23, and the pattern appears to have continued into the 24th, with the mercury projected to fluctuate narrowly around 25°C through the day.

Residents have been advised to carry light rainwear and expect some water‑logging on low‑lying roads, although the intensity of the showers is not expected to match the heavier monsoon‑type downpours seen in earlier seasons. With March typically being a month of only a handful of rainy days in Delhi, the scattered showers on the 24th are being treated as a brief, passing break in the city’s transition from winter to summer.
Looking ahead, meteorologists expect temperatures to stabilise in the mid‑30s over the next few days, with the rain activity likely to taper off as skies gradually clear. For now, the light showers have provided some relief from the rising heat, improving comfort levels slightly even as the city moves into what is forecast to be a hotter last week of March.
