"CM Pinarayi Vijayan Knew About Sabarimala Gold Theft!" Says BJP Leader

BJP's K Surendran accuses Kerala CM of shielding gold theft culprits.

In a fiery press conference in Ranni, BJP leader K Surendran dropped a bombshell, alleging that the recent gold theft at the revered Sabarimala temple occurred with the full knowledge of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Speaking at a protest organized by the BJP against the alleged theft, Surendran called the ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe a "complete sham" designed to protect those involved. Surendran claimed that the SIT was formed following a clandestine meeting between the Chief Minister and former Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran. "The day before the SIT was announced, the Chief Minister held an urgent, secret discussion with Kadakampally," he alleged. "This meeting was orchestrated to ensure the truth about the gold theft remains buried."

The BJP leader further accused the SIT of following a scripted investigation, deliberately naming only Unnikrishnan Potti and a handful of officials as suspects while shielding ministers and former Travancore Devaswom Board presidents. "The probe is a farce, tailored to protect the powerful," Surendran charged, demanding that the investigation be handed over to a central agency to ensure transparency.

Throwing down the gauntlet, Surendran challenged Chief Minister Vijayan to write to the Union government and request a central agency probe if he truly has nothing to hide. "If the Chief Minister is innocent, why fear an impartial investigation?" he asked. When questioned about RSP MP N K Premachandran's recent claim that activists attempting to enter Sabarimala in 2018 had consumed porotta and beef before their trek, Surendran dismissed it, stating he was unaware of any such incident and chose not to comment further.

The allegations have sparked a political firestorm, with the BJP intensifying its protests and demanding accountability. As the controversy surrounding the Sabarimala gold theft deepens, questions about the integrity of the investigation and the involvement of high-profile figures continue to swirl.
