BJP Responds To Rahul Gandhi Remarks On PM Modi And Economy
BJP criticises Rahul Gandhi over remarks on PM Modi and economy.
A political controversy erupted on Thursday after remarks attributed to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi during a party meeting triggered a sharp response from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), intensifying the ongoing exchange between the ruling party and the opposition over economic and governance issues.
According to party sources, Gandhi reportedly said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “ruined the poor, farmers, and students,” while also describing the country’s economic situation as “fragile” and attributing it primarily to government policies rather than global conditions. He also reportedly urged greater political pressure on the Prime Minister to publicly address the economic situation.
The comments drew a strong reaction from the BJP, which accused Gandhi of attempting to undermine democratic institutions and create what it described as a “democratic deficit.” BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari alleged that Gandhi’s remarks reflected political frustration and accused him of repeatedly targeting the Prime Minister to build political capital.

In his statement, Bhandari further described Gandhi as a “political anarchist,” claiming that his statements were aimed at inciting public unrest. He said the government had delivered stability and security to the country and argued that India continued to remain steady in a globally uncertain environment under the current leadership.
The BJP spokesperson also accused Gandhi of holding “anti-national” views, asserting that his criticism of the government was driven by political motives. He added that despite such remarks, citizens continue to support the Prime Minister and the government’s development agenda.
The exchange comes at a politically sensitive time, as Prime Minister Modi was recently acknowledged by world leaders for becoming India’s longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister, marking a significant milestone in the country’s political history. The development has further intensified political discourse between the ruling party and the opposition in Parliament and public forums.
