PM Modi Credits NDA for Milestone 4,399 Days as Prime Minister

PM Modi credits NDA for record 4,399-day tenure milestone.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that completing 4,399 days in office as India’s longest-serving democratically elected prime minister was “not a personal achievement,” but a reflection of the collective efforts of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). His remarks came during a meeting of NDA leaders in New Delhi, where a resolution was passed reaffirming support for his leadership.

The milestone marks Modi’s tenure surpassing that of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, making him the longest-serving elected prime minister in the country’s history. The NDA resolution, moved by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and seconded by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, received backing from several senior leaders across alliance partners, including Union ministers and regional party representatives.

Addressing the gathering, Modi said he did not view the recognition as a personal milestone but as a collective achievement of the alliance and its workers. “I don’t view it as a personal achievement, but as a testament to your generosity and our collective efforts,” he said, adding that he dedicated the resolution to NDA members and party workers across the country.

The resolution described Modi’s leadership as a blend of delivery, accountability and governance efficiency, highlighting what the alliance termed as a people-centric and performance-driven model of administration over the past 12 years. It also emphasised the government’s focus on participatory democracy and development-oriented policies under the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.”

During the meeting, Modi also highlighted India’s economic performance, stating that the country had recorded strong growth despite global economic uncertainty. He cited a growth rate of 7.7% for 2025–26 and 7.8% for the quarter ending March 31, alongside reforms aimed at improving taxation systems, easing compliance, and expanding economic opportunities for the middle class.

He further pointed to policy measures such as raising the income tax exemption limit to ₹12 lakh and implementing a simplified, faceless tax system as steps to support households and improve governance efficiency. According to him, these reforms have strengthened India’s economic resilience and expanded opportunities for younger generations.

Criticising previous administrations, Modi said the NDA government had transformed a “cycle of despair” into renewed national optimism since coming to power in 2014. He cited key decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370, development initiatives in the Northeast, and security operations against terrorism as examples of decisive governance. The NDA resolution also highlighted India’s growing global investment appeal and structural reforms like the Goods and Services Tax and the removal of outdated laws to improve ease of doing business.

The meeting concluded with NDA leaders reiterating their support for Modi’s leadership, describing his tenure as a period of transformative governance and national resurgence driven by long-term policy reforms and administrative changes.
