BJP Goes Solo In Punjab, Targets All 117 Seats As AAP Dismisses Winning Prospects

The BJP will contest all 117 seats in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections, BJP national general secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh said during a two-day organisational visit to the state. Santosh said the party was preparing to contest the election independently across Punjab and expressed confidence that the BJP would win enough seats to form the next government. “Punjab is fully ready for change, and the BJP is fully prepared to make it a reality,” Santosh said while addressing the first zonal meeting in Patiala on the opening day of his organisational visit.
He said the BJP would contest all 117 Assembly constituencies and, after securing victory, form its government in the state. His remarks set out the party's electoral strategy ahead of the next Assembly contest. Santosh's visit is focused on reviewing the BJP's organisational preparedness and strengthening its network across Punjab. The party plans to hold zonal meetings involving state leaders and organisational office-bearers from different parts of the state. The meetings are intended to assess the party's ground-level preparations and identify areas where its organisational structure needs further strengthening before the election campaign intensifies.
The BJP's strategy will place particular emphasis on strengthening its organisation at the booth level. Party leaders are expected to work on expanding the BJP's grassroots presence and improving coordination among workers and office-bearers. The party also plans to communicate its policies and the achievements of the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to voters across Punjab as part of its preparations for the election. Santosh was welcomed at Mohali airport earlier in the day by Punjab BJP chief Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon and the party's Punjab co-incharge Sardar Narendra Singh Raina.

His visit comes as political parties in the state begin intensifying their organisational activities ahead of the Assembly polls. The BJP's decision to publicly announce its intention to contest every constituency signals an effort to establish a wider independent electoral presence across Punjab. The announcement was met with a dismissive response from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which scoffed at the BJP's claim. The reaction sets up a political contest in Punjab in which the BJP is seeking to expand its footprint while the ruling party looks to defend its position.
