#BiharResults: Counting Day Begins with NDA Leaders Praying for Victory and Mandate

NDA leaders turn to temples as counting day drama unfolds.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha began the crucial counting day with a visit to the revered Ashokdham temple in his Lakhisarai constituency, offering prayers for the National Democratic Alliance’s success. Contesting against Congress candidate Amaresh Kumar and Jan Suraaj Party’s debutant Suraj Kumar, Sinha is confident of retaining the seat he won comfortably in 2020. The temple visit highlighted the intense emotional and political stakes as the state awaits results that could make Nitish Kumar India’s longest-serving chief minister with a fifth consecutive term.

In the state capital, hundreds of BJP workers gathered at Patna’s famous Hanuman Temple to perform special puja and aarti. In a symbolic gesture, they also conducted aarti of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha building and applied sacred tilak, treating the assembly itself as a deity. Senior party worker Krishna Kumar Singh told reporters that prayers were offered for the NDA to secure between 175 and 200 seats. “The people of Bihar have given an overwhelming mandate to the NDA. We are fully confident of forming the government again with a thumping majority,” he asserted.

The religious fervour within the NDA camp reflects strong belief in most exit poll predictions, which have forecast around 147 seats for the alliance and positioned the BJP as the single-largest party for the first time in Bihar. A performance in this range would not only ensure Nitish Kumar’s return but also significantly enhance the BJP’s bargaining power within the coalition for cabinet formation and future political strategy.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav and the Mahagathbandhan continue to reject all exit polls, insisting that ground reality will deliver a clear majority to the opposition. With both sides displaying unwavering confidence and temples across Bihar witnessing special prayers, the atmosphere remains charged with anticipation.

As counting progresses following a record 67.13 percent voter turnout, Bihar stands on the edge of a historic political moment. The final numbers will determine whether Nitish Kumar extends his two-decade dominance or Tejashwi Yadav finally claims the chief minister’s chair in one of Indian politics’ most fiercely contested battles.
