Amit Shah to Hold Roadshow, Address Rallies in Assam Before Polls

Amit Shah campaigns in Assam, boosts BJP ahead of elections.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to intensify the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign in Assam with a high-profile roadshow in Guwahati on Saturday, as the party ramps up efforts ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. The visit marks the beginning of a focused outreach drive aimed at consolidating voter support across key constituencies in the state.

According to party sources, Shah will arrive in the city on Saturday evening and participate in a roadshow in support of BJP’s Guwahati Central candidate Vijay Gupta. The event is expected to begin from Arya Vidyapeeth Playground and pass through major areas of the constituency, targeting urban voters in what is considered a crucial electoral seat.

During his visit, Shah will also hold meetings with party leaders and office-bearers to assess poll preparedness and strengthen booth-level management strategies. Party insiders said the leadership is focusing on micro-level planning to ensure effective mobilisation and coordination at the grassroots level.

On Sunday, the Home Minister will travel to Sonitpur district to address a public rally at Dhekiajuli Tea Estate in support of state minister Ashok Singhal. He will later head to Tihu in Nalbari district to campaign for senior minister Chandramohan Patowary, concluding his two-day tour aimed at covering both Upper and Lower Assam regions.

Shah is also scheduled to return to Assam on April 2 to campaign in the Barak Valley, where he will address rallies in Sribhumi district for minister Krishnendu Paul and in Silchar for former MP Rajdeep Roy. Polling for the 126-member Assam Assembly is set for April 9, with counting scheduled for May 4.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the state on April 1 to address rallies in Bihpuria in Lakhimpur district and Gohpur. Party leaders believe these high-profile visits will energise workers and boost the BJP’s electoral prospects as it seeks to retain power in the northeastern state.
