Amit Shah Rebukes Stalin Over 'Black Bill' Remark

Shah Defends Constitutional Amendment in Tamil Nadu

Union Home Minister Amit Shah sharply criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for labeling the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, a “Black Bill,” asserting that Stalin lacks the moral ground to make such claims due to alleged “black deeds” under his leadership. Speaking at a BJP event in Tirunelveli, Shah accused the DMK-led government of being the “most corrupt” in India, contrasting it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance, which he claimed aligns with the ethical principles of the Tamil classic Thirukkural.

The 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, introduced on August 20, 2025, in the Lok Sabha, proposes the removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, or ministers detained for 30 consecutive days on serious charges. Shah defended the Bill, questioning the propriety of leaders like DMK’s former Minister K. Ponmudy and V. Senthil Balaji, who remained in office despite facing Enforcement Directorate (ED) cases and prolonged detention. “Can a government be run from jail?” Shah asked, citing Balaji’s continued tenure as a minister without portfolio during his incarceration.

Shah also took aim at Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, alleging her sole aim is to make her son Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister, paralleling it with Stalin’s purported ambition to elevate his son Udhayanidhi Stalin to Chief Minister. He confidently predicted that neither plan would succeed, asserting the NDA’s dominance in future elections.

Shah further accused the DMK of involvement in scams, including sand mining, nutrition kit distribution, and MGNREGA mismanagement, reinforcing his charge of corruption. The remarks come amid heated opposition to the Bill, with critics like Stalin arguing it threatens democracy by enabling the removal of elected leaders without conviction.
