Shah Urges Relentless Push for India’s Global Dominance
Shah Slams Kerala, Pushes India’s Rise
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking at the Manorama News Conclave 2025 in Kochi, called on India’s 1.4 billion citizens to strive tirelessly until the nation achieves global preeminence in every field. Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Shah highlighted India’s economic ascent from the 11th to the 4th largest economy over the past 11 years, contrasting it with the “stagnation” of the Congress-led UPA era, which he said merely prevented a slide to 12th place.
Shah’s remarks come amid economic challenges, with the U.S. imposing a 25% tariff on Indian goods like textiles, marine products, and leather due to India’s continued purchase of Russian oil, a move expected to strain export sectors. Despite this, Shah emphasized Modi’s vision for the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, urging relentless effort through 2047 to make India the world’s top nation. “No one has the right to rest until we reach the pinnacle,” he declared, framing Modi’s 11-year tenure as a golden chapter in India’s history.
However, Shah expressed regret over Kerala’s lack of progress, stating, “While India has surged ahead, Kerala remains where it was 11 years ago.” He attributed this to the “stagnation caused by Communist ideology,” particularly criticizing the state’s LDF government for relying on tourism and remittances while neglecting industrial growth. Shah urged Keralites to leverage their voting power to align with national development goals, hinting at the BJP’s ambitions in the state ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.

Shah also praised Modi’s reforms, including the abrogation of Article 370 and the criminalization of instant triple talaq, as steps toward a unified, prosperous India. He projected that by 2029, India could overtake Germany and Japan to become the world’s third-largest economy, citing a 7.8% growth rate in 2024-25 and robust forex reserves. Posts on X echoed Shah’s optimism, with some calling Kerala’s governance a “roadblock to progress,” while others criticized his remarks as politically motivated. The conclave, attended by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, underscored the BJP’s push to challenge the LDF-Congress dominance in the state.
