Amit Shah Addresses ‘Badlav Rally’ in Moga, Promises BJP Government in Punjab
Amit Shah urges Punjab to give BJP a chance, promising jobs, development, and a drug-free state.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday called on the people of Punjab to give the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a chance to serve the state, during a major show of strength at Killi Chalan village in Moga. Addressing the party’s ‘Badlav Rally,’ Shah said the Congress, Akalis, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had been given multiple opportunities, and it was now time for BJP to bring “change and development” to Punjab.
Shah highlighted the party’s performance in the 2024 elections, noting that BJP secured 19 per cent of the vote share, which he described as a strong indicator of the party’s potential to form the next government in Punjab. He also suggested that BJP would contest the upcoming Assembly elections independently, without alliances.
Criticizing the AAP government, Shah alleged widespread corruption, misgovernance, and unfulfilled promises, including the creation of 25 lakh jobs, a drug-free Punjab, and minimum support prices for farmers. “This is a government of broken promises, neck-deep in corruption and indulging in scams. It can never do any good for Punjab,” he said, accusing the state administration of being an “ATM” for AAP national leaders.

The Home Minister emphasized that BJP would govern Punjab on the model of Odisha, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, and Uttarakhand, promising effective measures against drug trafficking and unemployment. He appealed directly to mothers, sisters, and elders to strengthen the party and entrust it with the task of freeing Punjab from drugs and providing opportunities for the youth.
Shah began his address by paying tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur on the 350th anniversary of his martyrdom, intertwining religious and patriotic themes in his speech. He said BJP treats the people of Punjab as “younger brothers” and seeks their blessings while highlighting the need for a “double-engine government” to replicate national development achievements, citing the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the decline of Naxalism.
Closing his remarks, Shah urged voters to give BJP a chance in the next Assembly elections, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party were best positioned to ensure both development and social reform in Punjab. The rally marked a significant mobilization ahead of the state elections, underscoring BJP’s intent to expand its presence in the region.
