Akhilesh Yadav Calls Yogi Adityanath ‘Star Divider’ Ahead of Bihar Polls
Akhilesh Yadav mocks UP CM’s Bihar campaign role.
In a sharp jab at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on October 18, 2025, labeled him a “star divider” rather than a star campaigner for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference at the SP headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav took aim at Adityanath’s role in the BJP’s campaign for the two-phase polls scheduled for November 6 and 11, accusing him of promoting division over unity.
“He’s not a star campaigner but a star divider,” Yadav remarked, suggesting that Adityanath’s approach would fail to resonate with Bihar’s voters. “The people of Bihar will reject communal figures,” he added, framing the BJP’s strategy as one rooted in “divide and rule.” Yadav argued that the BJP is wary of the SP’s PDA coalition—representing Pichhda (backward classes), Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (minorities)—which he claims poses a significant challenge to the ruling party’s electoral prospects.
Beyond targeting Adityanath’s campaign tactics, Yadav turned his criticism to the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government’s failures in governance. He highlighted the deteriorating civic infrastructure and traffic chaos in UP’s cities, despite the much-touted smart city initiative. “Countless meetings were held at the chief minister’s level for the smart city project, yet every city is choked with traffic,” Yadav said. “Where is the funding for smart cities going? Visit any city, and you’ll see congestion everywhere.”

Yadav’s remarks underscore the intensifying political rivalry between the SP and BJP as the Bihar elections approach. By branding Adityanath a divisive figure, he aims to rally support for the SP’s inclusive PDA platform, positioning it as a counter to the BJP’s alleged polarizing tactics. The former UP chief minister’s critique also draws attention to governance issues in Uttar Pradesh, painting a picture of mismanagement under Adityanath’s leadership.
As the Bihar polls draw near, Yadav’s comments signal a broader strategy to challenge the BJP’s narrative not only in Bihar but also in Uttar Pradesh, where civic issues like traffic congestion and stalled urban development projects could sway public opinion. With the SP leveraging its PDA coalition to appeal to marginalized communities, the electoral battle in Bihar promises to be a heated contest, with Adityanath’s role as a campaigner under sharp scrutiny.
