Abhijeet Dipke Joins Rahul Gandhi In Demanding Amit Shah’s Resignation Over July 20 Police Action

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Thursday demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that the police action against student protesters during a Parliament march on July 20 could not have taken place without approval from the top leadership. His remarks came a day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made similar allegations and sought Shah’s resignation. Speaking to journalists in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dipke alleged that students were subjected to excessive force during the protest against examination irregularities.

He claimed that the injuries suffered by protesters indicated that such action would not have occurred without directions from the Home Ministry. “The way students were attacked, and their blood was shed while they were protesting, could not have happened without Shah’s orders,” Dipke alleged. He said he supported Rahul Gandhi’s demand for the Home Minister to step down. The CJP founder also accused the Delhi Police of allegedly creating circumstances to justify action against protesters. He claimed that stone-pelting incidents during the demonstration were orchestrated to provide a reason for police intervention. The allegations have not been independently verified.

Dipke’s comments came amid a wider political controversy over the handling of the student protest near Parliament. Opposition parties have criticised the government over the police response, while authorities have maintained that security forces acted according to established procedures to maintain law and order. Rahul Gandhi had earlier accused Amit Shah of being responsible for the police action against protesters and demanded his resignation. Dipke said he agreed with Gandhi’s position and repeated the call for accountability from the Union Home Minister.

Addressing allegations that the CJP received foreign funding, Dipke rejected the claims and questioned the government’s responsibility in such a scenario. He argued that if any foreign funding had reached the organisation despite the Home Ministry’s oversight, it would represent a failure of the ministry. “If we are receiving foreign funds despite Shah being at the helm of the home ministry, then it is also his failure,” Dipke said, adding that the Home Minister should be held accountable if such allegations were proven. The controversy follows protests against alleged examination irregularities, including concerns raised by students over recruitment and competitive examinations.

The demonstrations have triggered political debates over accountability, transparency in examinations and the role of law enforcement during protests. The government has not accepted the opposition’s allegations regarding the police action. Authorities have maintained that security personnel are responsible for maintaining public order and act within the framework of the law. The dispute has added to tensions between opposition groups and the government, with both sides trading accusations over the handling of student protests and broader concerns related to examination systems.
