CJP After NEET Protest: Dipke Says Movement Has a Long Way to Go

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has described the conclusion of the group's 37-day protest as "just the beginning," signalling that the movement will continue despite the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the government's acceptance of several key demands. In a video message shared on Sunday morning, Dipke reflected on the campaign, saying it had been one of the most challenging periods of his life but had also demonstrated the strength of youth-led civic participation across the country.

Speaking to supporters through his social media account, Dipke said he was finally able to return home and rest without worrying about the day's developments. He admitted the protest had been physically and mentally exhausting, adding that there was now "no panic" after weeks of uncertainty. However, he emphasised that the achievements marked only the first step, stating that the Cockroach Janta Party still had "a long way to go" in pursuing its broader goals.

The CJP was founded by Dipke in May as a satirical response to a remark by the Chief Justice of India before evolving into a nationwide movement centred on the alleged NEET paper leak and demands for accountability. Over the following weeks, thousands of supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, where demonstrations called for reforms in the examination system and demanded the resignation of the education minister. The protests drew widespread attention and became one of the country's most prominent youth-led movements.

Following the government's announcement accepting several of the protesters' demands, including Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation and assurances that no action would be taken against demonstrators, the CJP formally called off its protest. The decision marked the end of more than a month of continuous demonstrations, during which participants maintained a strong presence at the national capital's designated protest site.

Dipke also used his video message to thank supporters who had remained at Jantar Mantar throughout the protest despite difficult conditions. He revealed that he had been suffering from typhoid and was running a fever, which prevented him from personally thanking everyone after the protest concluded. Expressing his gratitude, he praised the dedication of volunteers and participants, saying their commitment had played a crucial role in sustaining the movement over the past several weeks.

In addition to thanking supporters, Dipke acknowledged those who criticised the movement, saying constructive criticism helped improve the campaign and encouraged better decision-making. He said legitimate questions raised by critics contributed to the group's growth and effectiveness. While the immediate protest has ended, Dipke's remarks indicate that the CJP intends to remain active, positioning itself as a continuing platform for youth engagement and public accountability beyond the NEET issue.
