AAP Leader Lucky Oberoi's Killing Sparks Sharp Reactions from Opposition Parties

AAP leader Lucky Oberoi was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside a gurdwara in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, triggering political outrage and renewed questions over the state’s law and order situation. The incident took place when Oberoi was near the religious site, and he sustained fatal gunshot injuries, officials said.
According to police, Oberoi was rushed to a nearby hospital after the attack, where doctors declared him dead. Security forces cordoned off the area soon after the shooting, and forensic teams were deployed to collect evidence from the spot. CCTV footage from nearby establishments is being examined as part of the investigation.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the attackers fled the scene immediately after opening fire. Police have registered a case and said multiple angles, including personal enmity and political rivalry, are being probed. However, no arrests had been announced at the time of filing this report.

Responding to the criticism, ruling party leaders said strict action would be taken against those responsible and that no one involved in the crime would be spared. Senior police officials maintained that the investigation was being conducted in a time-bound manner and assured that security measures in the area would be strengthened.
The killing of a political leader in a public place has once again brought the issue of gun violence and security in Punjab into focus, with calls growing for stronger policing and preventive measures to curb such incidents.
