Vidarbha Poised to Become Global Clean Energy and Logistics Hub: Jeet Adani

Vidarbha is poised to emerge as a global hub for clean energy and logistics, driven by large-scale investments and strategic infrastructure projects, said Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airports and head of Adani Digital Labs. Addressing the Khasdar Audyogik Mahotsav during Advantage Vidarbha 2026, Adani highlighted the region’s transformation from a historical center to a modern industrial powerhouse.

The industrial expansion includes a Rs 70,000 crore investment for an integrated coal gasification and downstream derivatives complex at Linga, projected to create 30,000 direct jobs. According to Adani, this initiative will position Nagpur as a global leader in clean energy technologies and serve as a platform for national self-reliance in critical industries.

Vidarbha’s power infrastructure has seen major upgrades, including the 3,300 MW supercritical power plant at Tiroda and the 600 MW revival of the Butibori power plant in 2025. Combined with solar generation, these facilities provide 6,600 MW of dependable electricity, supporting Maharashtra’s industries, cities, and digital economy, Adani noted.

The region is also witnessing rapid growth in logistics and aviation. The 30-acre MRO complex at Mihan, with 15 aircraft bays and international certifications, is enhancing Nagpur’s status as an aircraft maintenance hub. Additionally, the 75-acre Inland Container Depot at Borkhedi and management of 24 border check posts aim to reduce freight costs and improve competitiveness for local businesses.

Adani attributed the momentum to visionary leadership at the national and state level, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who have prioritized regional development and connectivity. Sustainability remains central, with projects like the Gondkari underground mine following zero-displacement and zero-effluent discharge protocols.

Community development initiatives by the Adani Foundation in Nagpur and Gondia focus on healthcare, education, and women’s empowerment. Adani emphasized that the group’s presence in Vidarbha is “generational,” aimed at fostering long-term prosperity and making the region a key pillar in India’s growth story.
