Revanth Reddy meets Kharge to discuss Telangana governance and schemes.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, along with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and State Congress President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, met AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday in a key political interaction held at Shamshabad. The meeting took place at Novotel Hotel near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, where Kharge briefly stopped en route from New Delhi to Kalaburagi in Karnataka. The engagement comes at a time when the Congress leadership is actively reviewing governance and organisational matters in the state.
According to official sources, AICC in-charge for Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan was also present during the meeting. The Chief Minister’s Office described the interaction as a courtesy call, though party insiders indicated that the discussion lasted for nearly an hour and a half. During this time, leaders reportedly reviewed current political developments in Telangana and assessed the progress of various government programmes being implemented by the state administration.
While the meeting was formally described as routine, it is understood that broader governance and organisational issues were also part of the discussions. Senior Congress leaders are believed to have exchanged views on strengthening coordination between the state government and the party organisation. The interaction also comes amid ongoing efforts by the ruling party to consolidate its administrative agenda following its electoral mandate in the state.

In a parallel development, the Telangana government has announced a major review of its Employees’ Health Scheme, which is aimed at providing comprehensive health coverage to government employees and pensioners. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to chair a review meeting on Monday to assess the implementation framework of the scheme. The initiative is expected to provide cashless medical treatment facilities across government and empanelled private hospitals.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the scheme will be implemented through an Employees’ Health Care Trust comprising eight members, including representatives from employee and pensioners’ associations. A senior state government employee will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Trust. Officials have already begun collecting data on employees, pensioners, and their families to facilitate the issuance of digital health cards and streamline access to medical services.
The Employees’ Health Scheme, approved by the Telangana Cabinet on February 23, is projected to benefit over 17 lakh people, including government employees, pensioners, and their dependents. The programme will be funded jointly by the government and employees, with an annual outlay exceeding ₹1,056 crore. Officials said the initiative will cover nearly 2,000 medical procedures and ensure cashless treatment across hundreds of empanelled hospitals, marking a significant expansion of healthcare support for state government personnel.
