CM Yogi Adityanath Addresses Power Supply Issues, Targets Samajwadi Party Governance
CM highlights improvements in electricity supply while criticising previous SP government.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, accusing it of creating a false narrative around an energy crisis in the state. Speaking at a foundation stone laying ceremony for development projects worth ₹413 crore under the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, the Chief Minister said the state’s power situation has significantly improved under the current government compared to earlier administrations.
Yogi Adityanath referred to the previous Samajwadi Party rule while criticising its handling of electricity distribution, alleging that power shortages were widespread at the time. He said people were so frustrated with irregular supply that they would hang clothes on electricity lines due to the absence of consistent power. He also claimed that electricity was supplied in a rotational manner across districts, with some areas receiving power at night for a week while others were left waiting, reflecting what he described as an inconsistent and unequal distribution system.
Contrasting the past with the present, the Chief Minister asserted that the BJP government has worked to ensure a more stable and uninterrupted electricity supply across Uttar Pradesh. He said efforts are being made to promptly address technical disruptions and improve infrastructure to reduce outages. According to him, the government has been actively monitoring the system through regular review meetings to ensure better performance from the power distribution network.

The Chief Minister also appealed to citizens to cooperate with the power department during periods of strain, stressing that resolving energy challenges requires collective responsibility. He said the government alone cannot manage the system without public support and urged people to act responsibly in their use of electricity. He further stated that constructive cooperation, rather than political blame games, is essential for long-term improvements in the sector.
During his address, the Chief Minister also criticised incidents of public property damage and theft, narrating examples of civic installations being misused or stolen. He referred to an alleged case where CCTV footage captured a luxury car owner taking away a flower pot from a public area, using the anecdote to highlight what he described as declining civic sense. He remarked humorously that the cost of the vehicle far exceeded the value of the stolen item, drawing laughter from the audience while reinforcing his message on public responsibility.
Yogi Adityanath concluded by reiterating that the “double-engine government” is focused on resolving issues rather than merely highlighting problems, asserting that governance under the current administration is driven by solution-oriented policies. He said the government remains committed to strengthening infrastructure, improving public services, and ensuring that essential utilities such as electricity are delivered efficiently and consistently across the state.
