Nirmala Sitharaman to Meet 30 Students After Union Budget Presentation on February 1

FM Nirmala Sitharaman to interact with 30 college students after presenting Union Budget 2026-27 on Feb 1.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will meet 30 college students from various regions of India following the presentation of the Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1. This session will provide students with a unique opportunity to observe the Budget presentation live from the Lok Sabha Gallery, offering insight into one of the most important parliamentary proceedings of the year. This marks Sitharaman’s record ninth Budget presentation, including two interim Budgets.

The selected students come from diverse academic backgrounds, including commerce, economics, medical studies, and vocational courses. They have been chosen to represent a cross-section of India’s youth, ensuring that perspectives from multiple disciplines and states are included in the discussion. The initiative is designed to expose students to the workings of India’s financial and governance systems.

As part of the program, the students will also visit the Ministry of Finance at Kartavya Bhawan-1. They will interact with senior officials to understand policy formulation, budget preparation, and the role of institutions in nation-building. This hands-on exposure aims to enhance their understanding of governance, economic planning, and the country’s financial mechanisms.

Later in the evening, FM Sitharaman will hold a free-wheeling discussion with the students, focusing on the key priorities of the Union Budget, its vision for India’s future, and its implications for young citizens. Students will also have the opportunity to share their views, aspirations, and ideas, creating an interactive platform to engage directly with India’s fiscal policies and national priorities.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader effort to engage youth in economic and democratic processes. Inputs from citizens, particularly young people, have been considered during the preparation of the Union Budget 2026-27, reflecting their perspectives in key policy decisions. The interaction aims to promote financial literacy, civic awareness, and informed participation among India’s future leaders.
