Yogi Adityanath Leads Sacred Kanya Pujan Ritual at Gorakhnath Temple

CM’s heartfelt Kanya Pujan at Gorakhnath temple captivates all.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath led the sacred Kanya Pujan ritual on Maha Navami at the historic Gorakhnath temple, leaving devotees in awe. The ceremony, a cherished tradition of the Gorakhnath Peeth, saw the chief minister reverently washing the feet of nine young girls, revered as embodiments of Goddess Durga, in a heartfelt tribute to Matr Shakti (divine feminine energy).

The ritual began with Adityanath performing the puja with rhythmic Vedic chants, offering gifts, dakshina (monetary offerings), and seeking blessings from the girls, who symbolize the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Temple officials noted the chief minister’s deep spiritual connection, as he meticulously followed the age-old customs, ensuring each girl was honored with utmost respect. In a touching gesture, he also performed rituals for a six-month-old child and a young boy dressed as Lord Hanuman, adorning him with a garland and an angavastra (ceremonial cloth).

The atmosphere was charged with devotion as Adityanath personally served food to the girls and batuks (young boys) in the temple’s dining hall, fostering a sense of community and humility. Beyond the nine girls representing Nava Durga, several other children participated, each receiving prasad, gifts, and dakshina, making the event inclusive and joyous.
