CM Yogi Hoists Flag on Independence Day, Highlights Inclusive Welfare

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday hoisted the National Flag at his official residence on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day and highlighted what he described as the inclusive focus of policies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. He said government programmes have been formulated with four key sections in mind — the poor, youth, women and farmers.

Addressing the gathering, Yogi extended Independence Day greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh and recalled India's freedom struggle and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. He noted that India attained independence in 1947 after a prolonged struggle marked by sacrifice and dedication. He also referred to the First War of Independence in 1857 as an important milestone in the country's fight against British rule.

The Chief Minister argued that freedom should not be understood only as political independence but also as freedom from challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, inequality, backwardness and disorder. He emphasised that preserving the gains of independence is a collective responsibility and urged citizens across communities and social groups to contribute to the country's progress in their respective fields.

Yogi also pointed to what he described as the progress made during the eight decades since independence. He claimed that 25 crore people across the country have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty and that access to education has expanded. He further noted that government welfare schemes are increasingly reaching different sections of society without discrimination.

Highlighting the Modi government's policy approach, Yogi said the poor, youth, women and farmers have remained central to policymaking over the past 12 years. He described these four groups as the focus of government programmes and linked the reported reduction in poverty to welfare and development measures implemented during this period.

The Chief Minister's Independence Day address combined a remembrance of India's freedom struggle with an emphasis on inclusive development and collective responsibility. His remarks also framed the government's welfare priorities around vulnerable and economically important sections of society, while highlighting poverty reduction, education and wider access to government schemes as key areas of progress.
