Weather Activity Likely To Increase In Rajasthan Due To Western Disturbance

Rain and thunderstorms likely across parts of Rajasthan.

A fresh Western Disturbance has become active over Rajasthan, triggering widespread weather activity across several parts of the state and bringing rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the past 24 hours. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system has already influenced weather conditions in multiple districts, with authorities forecasting a further increase in activity during the next two days. Residents have been advised to remain alert as changing weather patterns are expected to affect large areas of the state.

The IMD reported that Sri Vijaynagar in Sri Ganganagar district received the highest rainfall during the period, recording 85 mm of precipitation. The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur stated that districts in the Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Ajmer divisions, along with the Shekhawati region, are likely to witness intense thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 60 to 70 kmph. Scattered moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected in these regions over the next 48 hours.

Weather officials have further predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in parts of the Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions. The active Western Disturbance has created unstable atmospheric conditions, increasing the likelihood of sudden weather changes across the state. Experts noted that such systems often bring short-duration but intense spells of rain and wind, particularly during the transition period before the onset of the monsoon.

Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution during thunderstorm activity, especially in areas prone to lightning strikes and strong winds. Farmers, commuters, and those involved in outdoor activities have been advised to closely monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions. Local administrations are also expected to remain on alert to address any disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions.

According to the latest forecast, thunderstorm and gusty wind activity is likely to continue at isolated locations in the Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions between June 21 and June 24. However, rainfall activity over southern Rajasthan is expected to gradually decrease during the same period. Meteorologists said the overall weather pattern will continue to fluctuate as the influence of the Western Disturbance persists across northern and eastern parts of the state.

Temperature variations were recorded across Rajasthan amid the changing weather conditions. Sri Ganganagar remained the hottest location with a maximum temperature of 41.5 degrees Celsius, while Phalodi and Jalore reported the highest overnight temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Pilani in Jhunjhunu district and Sikar recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 21.5 degrees Celsius. The recent rainfall has provided relief from the prevailing heat in several districts and is expected to improve soil moisture levels and overall weather conditions in the coming days.
