VP Radhakrishnan Highlights Northeast Development While Addressing Mizoram University Convocation
Vice President Radhakrishnan says government initiatives have placed Northeast at the heart of India’s development agenda.
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday said that the Northeastern region has been placed at the centre of India’s development narrative under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the government’s commitment to accelerating growth and improving connectivity in the region.
Addressing the 20th convocation of Mizoram University in Aizawl, the Vice President pointed to major infrastructure and development initiatives aimed at integrating the Northeast more closely with the rest of the country. He cited improved connectivity through projects such as the Bairabi–Sairang railway line and flagship programmes like UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) and Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) as key drivers of progress and opportunity.
Emphasising the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Radhakrishnan encouraged young graduates to focus on entrepreneurship and job creation rather than solely seeking employment. He said the Northeast holds immense potential in sectors such as tourism, bamboo-based industries, organic agriculture, handicrafts and digital services, which can contribute significantly to regional prosperity.
