VP Radhakrishnan Urges 1.2 Lakh DU Graduates to Build Developed India by 2047
VP Radhakrishnan confers degrees on 1.2 lakh DU graduates, urging them to lead India towards Viksit Bharat@2047.
Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, who also serves as the Chancellor of Delhi University (DU), conferred degrees on over 1.2 lakh graduates at the varsity’s 102nd Convocation on Saturday, addressing them as the “architects of Viksit Bharat@2047.”
Radhakrishnan emphasized that the realization of a developed and self-reliant India depends on the graduates’ integrity, competence, compassion, and innovative spirit. “Whether you become scientists, civil servants, entrepreneurs, artists, lawyers, teachers, or innovators, you will shape the India of 2047,” he said, highlighting the critical role of youth in nation-building.
He underlined the government’s vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making India Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) and achieving Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, stating that innovation, manufacturing, research, and problem-solving grounded in Indian realities but globally competitive are essential to this journey.

The Vice-President noted the remarkable growth of women’s education, observing that over 50% of graduates and more than 70% of gold medallists were women this year, surpassing male graduates. He called this a “reflection of India’s phenomenal progress in women’s education.”
Radhakrishnan urged the graduates to carry forward a spirit of inquiry and lifelong learning, while using social media constructively and staying away from drugs. He highlighted the responsibility that accompanies education, urging students to remain grateful for opportunities and mindful of their role in society.
Describing Delhi University as a distinguished institution of higher learning, he reminded students of the university’s century-long legacy of nurturing leaders who have shaped India’s intellectual, political, scientific, and cultural spheres. “The convocation is not merely ceremonial; it marks both an ending and a beginning, inducting graduates into the larger arena of responsibility,” he added.
The ceremony, attended by faculty, students, and dignitaries, celebrated academic excellence and symbolized DU’s continuing mission to produce leaders capable of steering India towards inclusive growth, technological leadership, social harmony, environmental sustainability, and accountable governance.
