Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday expressed deep grief over the death of nine people in a tragic fire incident in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi. The fire broke out early morning in a residential building following an explosion in an air-conditioning unit, officials said.
The incident occurred around 3:45 am in a four-storey building located in the B-Block of the Vivek Vihar area, an upscale residential locality in East Delhi. The explosion reportedly triggered a massive fire on the second floor, prompting an emergency response from the fire department. Around 14 fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze, while rescue operations were launched to evacuate trapped residents.
Following the incident, Sachdeva, along with Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, local MLA Sanjay Goel, and other BJP leaders, visited the affected families around 10 am to offer condolences.
