Vijay's Metro Inspection Turns Into Fan Meet As Passengers Gather Around
Metro inspection draws enthusiastic crowd of admirers.
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay conducted an inspection of the Chennai Metro Rail network on Wednesday, drawing enthusiastic crowds of supporters who turned the official visit into an impromptu fan gathering. Vijay began his journey from Omandurar Metro station in the afternoon and travelled towards Nandanam, accompanied by Chennai Metro officials who briefed him on the system's operations during the visit.
In a gesture that attracted attention, Vijay chose to purchase his own Metro ticket instead of bypassing the regular process. He walked to the ticket counter, collected his token from the attendant, and proceeded through the station like any other commuter. As he moved through the corridors, fans gathered behind security barricades applauded and cheered, while Vijay acknowledged them by waving and greeting supporters along the way before entering the platform through the automatic ticket gates.
The journey also featured several interactions with fellow passengers. A woman travelling on the train greeted Vijay with a slight bow, to which he responded warmly by holding her hands and exchanging a few words. He later interacted with a young boy and briefly spoke with a group of women commuters seated nearby, who appeared delighted by the encounter and recorded the moment on their mobile phones. The visit created a lively atmosphere inside the train as passengers welcomed the TVK leader.

The excitement extended beyond the train coaches, with supporters assembling on station staircases, balconies, and viewing areas to catch a glimpse of Vijay as he travelled through the Metro network. Many waved, cheered, and filmed the visit on their phones, while security personnel ensured smooth crowd management throughout the inspection. Despite the large turnout, the Metro services continued to function normally during the visit.
Following the train ride, Vijay visited the Chennai Metro Rail control room, where officials showcased the network's operational systems. Large digital display walls provided real-time information, including live transit graphics, route maps, and CCTV feeds from stations across the network. The inspection formed part of Vijay's review of Metro operations while also highlighting his strong public appeal, with the official visit drawing significant attention from commuters and supporters alike.
