Vande Bharat Sleeper: Colourful Bedsheets, Flight-Like Meals Win Over Passengers Online
Vande Bharat Sleeper's upgraded bedding and hygienic food service impress passengers online.
The newly launched Vande Bharat Sleeper has gone viral on social media, with passengers sharing their first impressions of the upgraded travel experience. Videos circulating online highlight improved interiors, bedding, and catering services, with many users describing the journey as more premium compared to traditional Indian trains.
One widely shared video showcased redesigned bedding in the sleeper coaches. The clip revealed colourful block-print bedsheets replacing the standard plain white linen typically used in AC coaches. Passengers reacted positively to the change, with one user joking that the new design removes the "mortuary-like" feel often associated with older train setups.
Railway officials said the upgraded linen kits now include a bedsheet, a pillow with a cover, a wool-rich blanket with a cover, and a hand towel. The initiative is part of a broader effort by Indian Railways to enhance passenger comfort and provide a more refined onboard experience across AC classes.

Another viral video focused on the catering service, with a travel vlogger describing it as "flight-like". The footage showed staff distributing sealed meal boxes using enclosed trolleys while wearing gloves, masks, and hairnets. Many passengers noted that both hygiene standards and presentation appeared significantly improved.
The Howrah–Guwahati (Kamakhya) route of the Vande Bharat Sleeper was inaugurated by Narendra Modi on January 17. The train is expected to cut travel time by approximately 2.5 hours, making long-distance journeys faster and more efficient for passengers.
Designed for speeds of up to 180 km/h, the train consists of 16 coaches and can accommodate over 800 passengers across various AC classes. It is also equipped with advanced safety systems such as Kavach and emergency talk-back features, reflecting the government’s push to modernise rail infrastructure while improving passenger experience.
