Uttarakhand CM Seeks Billions from Modi to Boost State Infrastructure!
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami meets PM Modi, requesting massive funds for pilgrimage, power, and water projects.
In a high-stakes meeting in New Delhi, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid out an ambitious plan to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting substantial financial aid to overhaul the state’s infrastructure. The agenda? Elevate Uttarakhand’s pilgrimage routes, power systems, and water resources to new heights.
Dhami extended a personal invitation to Modi for the Nanda Raj Jat Yatra next year, urging the Centre to allocate Rs 400 crore to develop infrastructure for this revered pilgrimage. He also pitched a massive Rs 3,500 crore package for the 2027 Haridwar Kumbh Mela, aimed at upgrading bridges, parking, electricity, drinking water, toilets, transport, and footpaths to ensure a seamless experience for devotees.
The chief minister didn’t stop there. He proposed transforming Nepa Farm in Udham Singh Nagar into a cutting-edge semiconductor hub and extending the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System to Haridwar. Dhami also sought approval for road construction on the Tanakpur-Bageshwar and Rishikesh-Uttarkashi rail projects, alongside a Rs 1,015 crore plan to underground power lines in Rishikesh and Haridwar while automating the power system under the Reconstructed Distribution Area Scheme (RDSS).

Water security was another key focus. Dhami presented the Pindar-Koshi Link Project, a visionary plan to connect snow-fed and rain-fed rivers. By linking the Pindar river with the Koshi, Gagas, Gomti, and Garud rivers, the project could provide drinking water and irrigation to two lakh people across 625 villages in Bageshwar, Almora, and Nainital districts. He urged its inclusion in a special central government scheme.
Additionally, Dhami pushed for the green light on five hydropower projects totaling 596 MW, aligning with a government committee’s recommendations. The discussion also covered the Chardham Yatra, Adi Kailash Yatra, Nanda Raj Jat Yatra, the upcoming Kumbh Mela, and the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttarakhand.
Prime Minister Modi, taking keen interest in the state’s plans, assured Dhami of the Centre’s full support to drive Uttarakhand’s development forward, according to an official statement.
