Uttarakhand Cabinet Takes Key Decisions On Expressway And Court Land Allocation

The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Friday approved a series of key decisions aimed at strengthening infrastructure, employment, rural development, education and industrial growth in the state. The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, cleared proposals including the extension of the Ganga Expressway to Haridwar and allotment of land for a new High Court complex in Haldwani.
The Cabinet approved the transfer of around 30 hectares of forest land in the Lamachaur area of Haldwani for the construction of a new High Court complex. The land is part of a larger 73-hectare forest area, and officials said the move will help develop better judicial infrastructure in the state.
The state government also approved an agreement with Uttar Pradesh for extending the Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Haridwar. The extension is expected to improve connectivity, promote religious tourism, encourage industrial investment and strengthen trade and employment opportunities between the two states.

Among other decisions, the Cabinet approved the Uttarakhand Code on Wages Rules, 2026, under the Code on Wages, 2019. The rules include provisions for minimum wages, double payment for overtime, monthly salary payments by the seventh day, digital wage payments and equal pay for men and women performing the same work.
The Cabinet expanded the livestock development scheme by allowing general category livestock owners to benefit from subsidies for purchasing cows and buffaloes. The unit cost per animal has been increased from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000, with Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries eligible for up to 90 per cent subsidy and general category beneficiaries eligible for up to 60 per cent subsidy.
The government also approved measures to promote eco-tourism, improve rural drinking water management under the Jal Jeevan Mission and implement new industrial relations rules. Additionally, 122 regular posts were approved for the Uttarakhand State Sports University at Gaulapar in Haldwani, while new guidelines for SC and ST hostels and amendments to the GST Act were also cleared. The decisions are expected to support rural livelihoods, worker welfare, education, tourism and overall development in the state.
