UPSC opens registration for CSE, IFS 2026 with prelims in May.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) and the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2026. Eligible candidates can begin registration through the official website, upsconline.nic.in, and submit applications until 6 pm on February 24, 2026. The examinations aim to fill a total of 933 vacancies across various civil services.
The preliminary examination for UPSC CSE 2026 is scheduled for May 24, 2026, while the main examination will commence on August 21, 2026. Candidates are advised to check the official notification for detailed information regarding eligibility, application procedures, and the complete examination schedule.
For age eligibility, the cut-off date is set at August 1, 2026. Applicants must be between 21 and 32 years of age, with government-mandated relaxations applicable for reserved categories. Candidates must hold a graduate degree from a recognised university to be eligible for the examinations.

The application fee is Rs 100 for candidates from General, OBC, and EWS categories. Applicants belonging to SC, ST, female candidates, and persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) are exempted from paying the fee. Payment must be made online through the official UPSC portal during registration.
The selection process involves a three-stage examination: the preliminary exam, the main exam, and the personality test (interview). Admit cards for the preliminary exam will be available on the UPSC website a few weeks before the scheduled date. Candidates are advised to download them and check all details carefully.
