Sengottaiyan to Contest from Gobichettipalayam as TVK Gears Up for 2026 TN Elections
TVK leader K.A. Sengottaiyan to file nomination from Gobichettipalayam for 2026 Tamil Nadu polls.
TVK senior leader and high-level administrative committee chief coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan announced on Wednesday that he will file his nomination on February 6 to contest from the Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The announcement underscores the party’s intent to strengthen its grassroots presence in western parts of the state.
The declaration came during the inauguration of TVK’s newly established office at Vellankovil near Gobichettipalayam, where Sengottaiyan interacted with party cadres and local functionaries. He emphasised that TVK is steadily expanding its organisational network and preparing intensively for the 2026 polls.
Addressing recent political claims, Sengottaiyan refuted allegations that TVK cadres had participated in the AIADMK’s Rasipuram event, clarifying that it was AIADMK workers holding TVK flags. He asserted that attempts to misrepresent the situation were misleading and that the party’s growth is organic, driven by increasing public support rather than defections or internal confusion.

Sengottaiyan also responded to criticism of party founder Vijay over his dance performance during TVK’s third anniversary celebrations, explaining it occurred during a devotional song at the request of supporters. He questioned why similar cultural expressions by other political leaders were not scrutinised and reiterated his full support for Vijay.
On allegations from AIADMK leader Dindigul Srinivasan regarding unaccounted money, Sengottaiyan dismissed the claims as baseless, stressing that any accusations must be supported by credible evidence. He cautioned political opponents against making unfounded statements for electoral gain.
While keeping options open on alliances for the 2026 elections, Sengottaiyan expressed confidence that TVK would emerge as a decisive force. Reacting to remarks by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that TVK would not impact BJP’s vote share, he asserted that election outcomes would ultimately reflect the party’s growing strength and voter support.
