Two Women Killed, Three Injured as Car Collides With Truck on NH-9

Two women killed, three injured (including two children) in high-speed car-truck crash on NH-9 in East Delhi.

A devastating accident occurred on Thursday morning on National Highway 9 near the MCD toll plaza in East Delhi, when a car carrying five passengers collided with a truck. The crash, reported at 6:43 am under the Ghazipur police jurisdiction, resulted in the deaths of two women, identified as Deepanjali (38) and Neelam Garg (55), and left three others injured, including two children.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhaniya described the collision as severe, noting that the car was completely mangled upon impact. One of the victims was reportedly flung from the vehicle due to the force of the crash. Police and Delhi Fire Services responded promptly after a PCR call alerted authorities to the incident.

The injured passengers—Deepanshu Garg, the car’s driver, along with children Vivaan (5) and Vashu (3)—were admitted to Max Hospital. Officials have confirmed that they are currently in stable condition. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the mortuary of Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding may have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal collision. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and conducting a detailed probe to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.

A formal case has been registered by the Ghazipur police. Traffic on the affected stretch of NH-9 has since been restored, but the tragic incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter road safety enforcement and monitoring on Delhi’s highways.
