Telangana Bids Farewell to CPI Veteran Sudhakar Reddy with State Honours
Telangana CM and former VP honor CPI leader Sudhakar Reddy, whose body will aid medical research.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, and other prominent leaders gathered on August 24, 2025, to pay their respects to Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, a revered Communist Party of India (CPI) veteran who passed away at the age of 83. The former Lok Sabha MP died on Friday night, August 22, 2025, while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
Sudhakar Reddy’s mortal remains were kept at Maqdoom Bhavan, where tributes were offered by dignitaries including Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao. A two-time Lok Sabha representative and CPI general secretary from 2012 to 2019, Sudhakar Reddy was a stalwart in Indian politics, known for his dedication to social justice and leftist ideals.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Reddy directed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to ensure Sudhakar Reddy’s last rites be conducted with state honors, reflecting his significant contributions to the nation. His body will be donated to the state-run Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad on Sunday evening for medical research, honoring his legacy of public service.
