Suspicious Boat Off Raigad Coast Sparks Security Alert in Maharashtra

The incident has raised concerns due to the region’s history, notably the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Security forces have heightened vigilance along Maharashtra’s Raigad coastline after a suspicious boat was spotted near Revdanda on Sunday, police officials confirmed.

The unidentified vessel, observed approximately two nautical miles off the Korlai coast in Revdanda, is suspected to bear foreign markings and may have drifted into Indian waters, according to preliminary assessments. The sighting prompted an immediate response from multiple agencies, including Raigad Police, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Quick Response Team, Navy, and Coast Guard, who rushed to the scene.

Raigad Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal led efforts to investigate, though heavy rain and strong winds hampered attempts to approach the boat. Dalal herself joined a barge mission to inspect the vessel but was forced to turn back due to adverse weather conditions.
