Sonia Gandhi Admitted To Gurugram Hospital For Tests Amid Third Hospitalisation This Year

Sonia Gandhi admitted to Gurugram hospital for tests and minor procedure amid health concerns.

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Medanta – The Medicity on Wednesday morning for what sources described as a minor surgical procedure and routine medical examinations.

According to hospital and party sources, the former Congress president was brought to the private hospital in Gurugram for scheduled tests and further medical evaluation. While details of the procedure have not been officially disclosed, it has been characterised as minor in nature. She is currently under observation as doctors continue monitoring her condition.

This marks the third hospitalisation for Sonia Gandhi since the beginning of the year, according to sources. Earlier in March, she was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi after developing a high fever. Medical investigations at the time reportedly indicated a systemic infection, which was treated with antibiotics. She remained under observation for a few days as a precautionary measure before being discharged.

Prior to that admission, Gandhi had also visited hospital for routine health check-ups and observation under a chest specialist. Medical sources had earlier noted that she has been dealing with a chronic cough and regularly undergoes evaluations, particularly in light of respiratory concerns linked to seasonal pollution in the capital region.

Sonia Gandhi, one of India’s most prominent political figures, has been active in national politics for several decades and has led the Indian National Congress through multiple electoral cycles. She continues to serve as a Rajya Sabha MP while remaining an influential voice within the party’s organisational structure. As of now, neither the Congress party nor the hospital has issued a detailed medical bulletin, and further updates on her condition are expected as doctors complete ongoing assessments.
