Six Including Three Children Killed in House Fire in Himachal's Sirmaur
Six people, including three children, charred to death in house fire in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur.
A devastating fire accident claimed the lives of six people, including three children, in Talangna village under the Nauradhar area of Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, officials said on Thursday. One person sustained burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, authorities confirmed.
Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma said preliminary investigations indicate that the fire originated from a ‘chullah’—a traditional earthen cooking oven—inside the house late Wednesday night. By the time neighbours noticed the blaze, it had already caused extensive damage to the structure.
Talangna is a remote village without direct road connectivity to Sangrah, which delayed emergency response efforts. Officials said the victims were asleep when the fire broke out, leaving them little chance to escape as the flames spread rapidly through the house.

The deceased have been identified as Naresh, Tripta, Kavita, Sarika, Kritika, and Kritik. Among them were family members who had travelled from Rajgarh and Nerva to attend Boda Tyohar, a major annual festival of the Hattee tribe, during which daughters traditionally visit their paternal homes.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep grief over the incident and announced that the administration has been directed to investigate the tragedy and provide all possible assistance to the affected families. He also appealed to residents to exercise extreme caution while using fire, heaters, and cooking stoves during the winter season.
Leaders across political parties, including former chief minister Jairam Thakur, Congress state president Vinay Kumar, and BJP state president Rajiv Bindal, also expressed condolences. The tragedy marks the second major disaster in the Sangrah region this month, following a fatal bus accident on January 10 that claimed 14 lives.
