4 From Himachal Family Killed in Fog-Related Car-Bus Crash in Hoshiarpur

A devastating road accident in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district claimed the lives of four family members from Himachal Pradesh early Saturday morning, police confirmed. The victims’ car collided with a Punjab Roadways bus on Dasuya Road under dense fog conditions, leaving one passenger seriously injured.

The deceased have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh (45), Sushil Kumar (46), Brij Kumar (38), and Arun Kumar (45), all residents of Una district, Himachal Pradesh. The sole survivor, Amit Kumar, revealed that the group was on its way to drop him at Amritsar Airport for his overseas travel.

Amit Kumar, who was seated in the front passenger seat, told police that the accident occurred suddenly due to poor visibility. “There was heavy fog on the way, and I fell asleep during the journey. Suddenly, the car collided with the bus. I do not remember much after that,” he recounted.

Police officers said that three of the victims were seated in the back, while one was driving the vehicle. Senior officer Barinder Kumar stated, “Initial reports indicate that dense fog may have caused reduced visibility, leading to the collision. The exact cause is still under investigation.”

A case has been registered, and authorities are investigating to determine if speed, road conditions, or other factors contributed to the tragedy. Rescue teams rushed the injured to a nearby hospital, but four members of the family were declared dead on the spot.

Officials have urged drivers in the region to exercise extreme caution amid early morning fog, as visibility-related accidents remain a significant risk on highways in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh during this season.
