Two Killed in Fog-Related Truck Crash Into E-Rickshaw in UP
Dense fog causes truck to ram e-rickshaw on Bareilly-Pilibhit highway, killing two daily wage workers and injuring two.
Two people were killed and two others sustained serious injuries after a speeding truck rammed into an e-rickshaw amid dense fog on the Bareilly–Pilibhit highway in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning. The accident occurred in the Hafizganj police station area near Rajshree College, officials said.
According to Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra, the truck hit the e-rickshaw from behind, crushing it due to poor visibility caused by heavy fog. The impact was severe, leaving little chance for the victims to escape.
The deceased were identified as Salim (35) and Hashim (35), both residents of Richhola Kifayatullah village. Police said both men died on the spot due to multiple injuries sustained in the collision.

Two other passengers, Nasruddin (36) and Rais Ahmad alias Majle (34), suffered critical injuries and were immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment. All four victims were daily wage labourers travelling to Rithora for work at the time of the accident.
Following the incident, police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to a government facility for post-mortem examination. The damaged e-rickshaw was removed from the road to restore traffic flow on the busy highway.
The truck involved in the accident has been seized, while the driver fled the scene soon after the crash. Police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
