Six Bangladeshi Nationals, Two Indian Touts Nabbed in Tripura for Illegal Border Crossing!

BSF and Tripura Police arrest eight in Dharmanagar and Sidhai for illicit border activity, intensifying crackdown on human trafficking.

In a stepped-up operation against illegal border crossings, Tripura Police and Border Security Force (BSF) arrested six Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts on Friday, police confirmed Saturday. The arrests occurred in two separate incidents along Tripura’s 856-km border with Bangladesh, a hotspot for infiltration.

In Dharmanagar’s inter-state bus terminal, BSF personnel detained four Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts during routine checks. “Preliminary interrogation revealed the four were Bangladeshi citizens without valid documents, guided by the two Indian touts to reach Dharmanagar,” said Srikanta Bardhan, Officer-in-Charge at Dharmanagar police station. All six were handed over to police and placed in 14-day judicial remand.

In a separate incident, two more Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended in Belfung, under Sidhai police station, while traveling from West Tripura to Khowai. They were also sent to judicial custody, with investigations underway to uncover trafficking networks.
