Delhi’s Liquor Boom: ₹2,662 Crore Haul from 16.96 Crore Bottles in Q1FY26!

Delhi government’s liquor sales soar, with 16.96 crore bottles sold in Q1FY26, generating ₹2,662 crore and surpassing last year’s figures.

Delhi’s government-run liquor corporations sold 16.96 crore bottles in the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year, raking in ₹2,662 crore, officials reported Saturday. This marks a significant jump from the 15.93 crore bottles sold in Q1FY25, which yielded ₹2,403 crore, adding an extra ₹259 crore to the state’s coffers.

The Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) led with 5.29 crore bottles sold, followed by Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) with 5 crore, Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation (DSCSC) with 3.65 crore, and Delhi Consumer’s Cooperative Wholesale Store (DCCWS) with 2.91 crore. Over 700 retail vends, operated solely by these four agencies under the current excise policy, drove the sales.

The surge positions Delhi to meet its ₹7,000 crore excise tax target for 2025-26, signaling stabilization in the liquor trade after the 2021-22 excise policy was scrapped in 2022. A new excise policy, being drafted by a high-level committee led by Chief Secretary Dharmendra Kumar, aims to enhance revenue, ensure quality liquor supply, and improve consumer experience by studying other states’ models.
