Sharad Pawar Says AI Could Have Prevented NEET Examination Paper Leak

Sharad Pawar says AI could have prevented NEET paper leak scam.

NCP (SP) Chief Sharad Pawar has said that the use of advanced technology, including artificial intelligence, in examination systems could have helped prevent irregularities such as the NEET paper leak controversy. Speaking at a public event in Pune, Pawar suggested that stronger technological safeguards in competitive examinations might have averted the crisis that recently led to widespread scrutiny of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

Addressing questions on whether AI-based systems could have prevented the alleged scam, Pawar said that earlier adoption of such tools would have eliminated the possibility of such incidents. He stressed that technology-driven monitoring and verification mechanisms are increasingly essential in large-scale examinations, particularly those involving millions of candidates across the country.

Pawar made the remarks during the launch of the ‘Technology on Wheels’ initiative, organised by the Sharadchandra Pawar Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence under Vidya Pratishthan in collaboration with the Sakal Media Group. The programme aims to introduce rural and remote students to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and its practical applications across various sectors.

Without naming individuals, Pawar also referred to a senior official now handling the examination-related issue at the national level, describing him as experienced and capable. He expressed confidence that improvements in the system would become visible within the coming months, indicating ongoing administrative efforts to address the concerns surrounding examination integrity.

The NEET controversy has been under investigation following allegations of a paper leak, with authorities initiating a probe into the matter. Reports indicate that several individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, while the National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken administrative steps, including personnel changes, to strengthen oversight and examination processes.

Pawar also highlighted the broader importance of artificial intelligence in sectors such as agriculture and healthcare, noting that its applications are expanding rapidly. He said that embracing technological tools is essential for improving efficiency and transparency across fields, particularly in areas that directly impact public systems and youth opportunities.
