SBI invites applications for 7,150 apprentice posts nationwide with exam, eligibility and language test requirements.
The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced a large recruitment drive for apprentice posts, inviting applications for 7,150 vacancies across the country, offering fresh graduates an opportunity to gain banking sector experience. The application process for SBI Recruitment 2026 began on Tuesday, May 19, and will remain open until June 8, with eligible candidates required to apply through the bank’s official online portal.
According to the notification, the recruitment process will begin with an online written examination, followed by a local language proficiency test for candidates who qualify in the written stage. The bank has made it mandatory for applicants to demonstrate proficiency in the local language of the state they are applying from, including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand it. Failure to clear the language test will result in disqualification from the final selection process.
The online written examination will consist of 100 objective-type questions, each carrying one mark, to be completed within a duration of one hour. The paper will include sections such as General Awareness, English Language, Mathematics, and Reasoning Ability. The exam will also include negative marking, with one-fourth of a mark deducted for each incorrect answer, making accuracy an important factor for candidates.

However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will receive age relaxation in accordance with government regulations.
The application fee structure has been set at Rs 300 for candidates belonging to the General, Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), while candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories are exempted from paying any fee. Applicants have been advised to carefully review the official notification before submitting their forms to ensure they meet all eligibility conditions.
The recruitment drive is part of SBI’s broader initiative to strengthen its workforce while providing structured training opportunities for graduates entering the banking sector. The apprentice programme is expected to offer candidates practical exposure to banking operations, customer service, and financial processes across various branches in India.
